Raised in Byron, IL, Brexton Isaacs got his first taste of politics during the 2008 elections when he became fascinated with the Presidential election and attended President Barack Obama’s first inauguration. His interest in politics led him to work on numerous campaigns that began with working to elect a slate of 4 successful school board candidates in 2011 while still in high school. In 2012, Brexton interned for the DCCC-targeted Congressional campaigns of both David Gill and Cheri Bustos, and in 2013 Brexton successfully campaigned for Tari Renner for Bloomington Mayor and Scott Black for City Council. In the spring of 2014, Brexton spent a semester in Washington, DC, where he was a Communication intern for EMILY's List and then spent the summer of 2014 working full time as the Research Assistant for Congresswoman Cheri Bustos’ reelection campaign. Brexton is currently spending the 2014 cycle as the Youth Vote Director for the DCCC in the Illinois Thirteenth Congressional District. Brexton is the President of the IWU College Democrats, the 2014 CDA National Chapter of the Year, and the National Communications Director for College Democrats of America (CDA). He also previously served as the National Council Vice Chair of CDA. A Senior studying Political Science at Illinois Wesleyan University, Brexton also served as the Student Senate President at IWU, writes regular political features for IWU’s student newspaper, was a Resident Assistant, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and National Residential Hall Honorary.
