CDIL Sends Delegation to College Democrats of America National Convention

This weekend, the College Democrats of America (CDA) held their National Convention in Atlanta, GA. The College Democrats of Illinois sent 5 Delegates from 3 of our outstanding chapters to attend. The delegates included Brexton Isaacs, Annie Kehler, and Kahri Jung from Illinois Wesleyan University; Cameron Erickson from DePaul University; and Alex DiLalla from the University of Chicago.

The Illinois Wesleyan College Democrats were awarded the highest chapter-level honor given from CDA, the Chapter of the Year Award. When the Award Committee announced  IWU as the winner, they cited the chapter’s growth and ability to work with high-profile elected officials and candidates.

College Democrats of Illinois President Brexton Isaacs was elected as National Communications Director for CDA. Previously, he served as CDA National Council Vice Chair.  The convention marks the end of his term in that position, as well as the end of the 2013-2014 CDA terms of CDIL Executive Board members Annie Kehler and Alan Russian who served on the National Communications Team, and Christopher Lowery who served as the Labor Caucus Chair.

At the convention, our Delegates received specialized trainings from Democratic National Committee (DNC) staff, and heard speeches from John Carter, Democratic nominee for Georgia Governor, and DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
