CDIL Invades Champaign-Urbana

This past weekend, the College Democrats of Illinois held our first Campaign Invasion of the election season. College students from across the state gathered in Champaign-Urbana to campaign for Ann Callis, 13th Congressional District Democratic Nominee, and Carol Ammons, Nominee for State Representative in the 103rd District. College Democrats in attendance heard from Carol Ammons and were trained in organizing, voter registration, and membership recruitment. The College Democrats then took to the streets to talk with voters about why they should vote for Ann and Carol, knocking a grant total of 3119 doors in just two days! We’re incredibly excited to continue these invasions in the coming weeks, and make a difference in the election this November. See photos from the weekend here.

CDIL Protests Congressman Rodney Davis’ office

On Monday, August 25, members of CDIL protested Congressman Rodney Davis’ District Office in Normal, Illinois. The purpose of the protest was to highlight Rodney Davis’ choice to vote against more than 100,000 college students in his district in an attempt to balance the budget on the backs of students. As students are heading back to campuses across the state of Illinois, many are returning with higher student loan interest rates because of Davis’ votes in Congress. Illinois students need a Representative who will stand up and make college more affordable for Illinois families.
